# kanari alerts

> Configure Slack and email alert channels

## Overview

`kanari alerts configure` saves your alert channel settings to the Kanari backend. Once configured, you'll receive Slack messages and/or emails when your Celery infrastructure has HIGH or CRITICAL findings.

Requires `kanari login` first.

## Configure alerts

### Slack

```bash theme={null}
kanari alerts configure --slack-webhook https://hooks.slack.com/services/...
```

To get a Slack webhook URL: go to your Slack workspace → Apps → Incoming Webhooks → Add New Webhook.

### Email

```bash theme={null}
kanari alerts configure --email alerts@company.com
```

### Both at once

kanari alerts configure \
  --slack-webhook https://hooks.slack.com/services/... \
  --email alerts@company.com
```

## What triggers an alert

Alerts fire when the agent detects a **HIGH** or **CRITICAL** finding:

| `NO_WORKERS` | CRITICAL | ✅ Always |
| `WORKER_OFFLINE` | CRITICAL | ✅ Always |
| `STUCK_TASK` | HIGH | ✅ Always |
| `QUEUE_BACKLOG_*` | HIGH | ✅ Always |
| `QUEUE_SLA_BREACH_*` | HIGH | ✅ Always |
| `HIGH_SATURATION` | MEDIUM | ❌ Not alerted |
| `LATENCY_UNAVAILABLE` | MEDIUM | ❌ Not alerted |

## Cooldown

To avoid alert spam, Kanari enforces a **30-minute cooldown** per finding per organization.

* `CRITICAL` findings **always** alert, regardless of cooldown
* `HIGH` findings alert once every 30 minutes

| `--slack-webhook URL` | Slack Incoming Webhook URL (must start with `https://`) |
| `--email EMAIL` | Email address for alert notifications |
| `--config`, `-c` | Path to YAML config file (for API key resolution) |
| `--api-url` | Backend URL override |
